Cherry Hemangiomas…..What??

Quinn has had a red bump right between his eyebrows for the past 3 months. First, I thought it was a scratch, but then I realized it was getting bigger and not going away. It is like a raised red bump. I have something very similar on my chest. I decided to take him to the pediatrician to have it checked out. She ended up recommending me to a dermatologist and they diagnosed it as a cherry hemangiomas. With that said….it is nothing major. It should go away before he’s five. Ironically, in the midst of all of this getting checked out….Quinn scratched it, which made it bleed for 2 HOURS!!! I am not exaggerating. He was an absolute mess!! It was impossible to make a 20 month old sit still while his face was covered with blood. The dermatologist said next time it happens to apply pressure on it for 20 minutes. Yeah right!! The only time Quinn sits still for 20 minutes is in his sleep, and not even that. We are hoping this will not be a common occurrence. So if you see Quinn, and he has scabbed red dot on his face….THIS is the reason.

Do you see that tiny red dot right above his nose?? You would not think that little red dot could bleed for 2 hours. Well let me tell you it can and will!!

* WARNING: If you do not like seeing blood, do not look below!!

This was is in control…..( me dabbing it every 5 seconds, so it would not get out of control.

This is called out of control!! ( This is what it looked like if I did not dab it every 5 seconds) He was not upset because he was bleeding….He really wanted his yogurt and I wanted to take a picture. Poor Guy! He had no clue that he was even bleeding. He isn’t in any pain. We have already had two episodes in the past couple of days. We are thankful that it is not anything major, even though it looks major. :(
