The next transition we experienced this week was POTTY TRAINING. I was not planning to do both of these transitions all in the same week, but it just happened. Honestly, I was dreading potty training and I wanted to get it ALL out of the way. I figured I’d better start while I am still in my second trimester, and before it got really hot outside because we spent a lot of time outdoors.
FIRST DAY was NO FUN and probably the most tired I have felt this whole pregnancy. I actually got up around 6:00 Am and walked/ prayed over the day for some extra energy.
We started cold turkey. We put on the BIG BOY undies and guzzled Gatorade and went to town. After 4 accidents in a row and fighting him to sit on the toilet I was about to quit about an hour into it. Eventually, it started clicking!! Praise the LORD. I stuck with it. Around 5:30 we were DONE. He had another accident outside and I decided to put the pull up on and call it a day.
SECOND DAY: Surprisingly, he woke up dry. I started the day over again: Put the undies on and guzzled the Gatorade. He had one big accident that morning and then started to say the most beautiful 6 words, “Mommy, I need to go potty.” I decided to be a little adventurous and go eat lunch at Subway. ( 2 minutes away) We had to get out of the house before we both went insane. We made it without any accidents!! WOOHOO!!! This day was much better!!
THIRD DAY- Quinn woke up CRANKASOARUS!!!! We had a knock down drag out for about 30 minutes over cereal. I was in tears and he was in tears. I was not going to even attempt to ask him about the potty. He finally calmed down and was eating his cereal, when he looked at me and said, “I need to go Potty.” The Lord knew I needed to hear that.
He did not have any accidents until CC watched him that evening. Unfortunately, it was PEE and POOP! Poor CC!!
FOURTH DAY- No accidents
I am so proud of Quinn!! We survived the week!! I am ready for some normalcy in our lives this week.
PREPARATION: stickers, M&Ms, Tons of underwear, rewards, and tons of Gatorade.
His toilet seat
Below are all the things we did to keep busy!!
We brought all the toys to the kitchen most of the day, so the accidents would be easier to clean.
PLAY- DOH
Playing outside
Supporting his new BIG BOY Underwear
I am pretty sure Quinn was a in a different pair of shorts in each of these pictures!! HA!!
That sums up our first experience of potty training!! WOOHOO!! Way to go QUINN.
